Commercial Strategist, Global Deal Desk

We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join our Global Deal Desk team based in Frimley.

The Commercial Strategist will partner with the regional Sales teams on large and complex sales transactions to provide guidance and recommendations on deal pricing, commercial structure, and contract terms and conditions to optimize revenue, bookings, and cash in-line with the Company’s financial and strategic objectives.  The role provides great insight into pricing strategy, sales strategy and negotiations and deal financials.


The Commercial Strategist will: 

  • Lead internal commercial discussions on complex deals, working with the account team and other members of Genesys to develop commercial strategy and deal structure
  • Shepherd the deal through the sales cycle in collaboration with the appropriate cross-functional teams (e.g. Sales Operations, Revenue Accounting, Sales Finance, Maintenance, Legal, Professional Services, and Product Management)
  • Review and approval deal terms in Salesforce (SFDC) and ensure appropriate documentation in quote outputs and contracts
  • Provide transaction analysis, and provide additional analytical insights that will help in the decision making process
  • Conduct financial analysis as needed to inform deal pricing and profitability (e.g. discount analysis, cash flow projections, margin analysis, CapEx and OpEx impact analysis, etc.)
  • Contribute to the development of margin and/or pricing tools developed by other teams
  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of customer needs combined with market and product knowledge to be able to influence and shape the development of commercial constructs
  • Own and contribute to transformation initiatives related to the function of the Deal Desk within Genesys   

 Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Business (ideally with a focus in Finance)
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant career experience with a technology company (in a Deal Desk Role, Field Finance, Revenue Accounting, or Contracting) with a demonstrated pattern of increased responsibility
  • Working knowledge of software pricing, discounting, value-positioning, and revenue recognition concepts
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of Salesforce and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage large transactions and ensure that open items are resolved in a timely and efficient manner
  • Work under pressure without compromising quality
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment to develop collaborative solutions but able to work independently when necessary
  • Ability to use judgment and draw on past experience to make decisions or recommendations
  • Personable, energetic, and collaborative
