Job Description


    Job Title: Material Handler Team Lead

    Department & Team: Global Logistics

    Reports to: Global Logistics Manager

    Location: Indianapolis Warehouse

    Shift: 9:00 am – 6:30 pm



    The Material Handler will be responsible for all aspects of shipping, receiving, fulfillment, and movement of materials within our Indianapolis-based manufacturing and logistics facility. Materials will include telephones, telecommunications equipment, computer systems and IT related components. Our logistics facility runs as a “on time” operation, so work must be done with a sense of urgency as opportunity arises. We do have busy month and quarter ends that may require flexible or extended work hours.


    Key Responsibilities:

             Take an ownership role in the daily organization, execution and flow of materials into, out of and within the facility.

             Assist in the material handling within our production facility.

             Receive incoming shipments.

             Ship hardware items on customer orders as they arrive, in a timely manner.

             Make arrangements for domestic and international express and freight shipments.

             Maintain an organized inventory and orderly work area.

             Ensure inventory areas are clean, productive, and safe workspaces.

             Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve the overall material and shipping processes and facilitate teamwork among all the stakeholders in the process.

             Communicate with customers and internal teams when questions are sent to Global Logistics about orders.

             Solve shipping and logistics problems in a professional manner, resulting in customer satisfaction with our logistics experience.

             Collaborate with other team members in a give and take manner to solve new businesses challenges as they arise.

             Weekly Cycle counts of inventory with the Accounting team. Quarterly full counts as well.





    Minimum Requirements:

    ·       College degree or two+ years college experience a must.

    ·       Solid work history with 3 to 5 years’ experience.

    ·       Demonstrated and strong aptitude working with computer software applications. Genesys is a technology-driven company, so additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience creating and managing emails, creating and editing documents with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) or other relevant application experience.

    ·       An interest in logistics, both domestic and international is desired.

    ·       Relevant shipping experience including UPS, FedEx or LTL shipping tools and international shipping methods is a plus. Automated shipping software such as Agile and World Ease, as well as NetSuite experience would be a nice plus.

    ·       Enthusiastic, can-do attitude with an emphasis on quality customer service and satisfaction.

    ·       Must be organized, can multi-task and handle some level of stress.

    ·       Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with internal staff, as well as outside customers and vendors.

    ·       Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with team members and to work effectively in a close-knit team environment.

    ·       Be able to exercise sound judgment within defined parameters in the resolution of customer shipping issues.



    Desirable Skills:

    ·       Reliable and self-managed. Must be able to work independently with a sense of urgency and duty to the customer.

    ·       Communicates regularly with peers and management.

    ·       Uses computer applications frequently.

    ·       Knowledgeable of shipping to other countries. 

    ·       Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds alone or up to 100 pounds in team lift.

    ·       Uses pallet lifting equipment, both manual and electric.

    ·       A desire to learn, grow and do more.
