Genesys is seeking to hire an experienced Revenue accounting manager to join our expanding global revenue assurance team.  The Revenue Manager will have a solid understanding of revenue accounting principles under US GAAP and ASC 605/606 for a SaaS business, along with hands-on knowledge of ERP billing systems.  This individual should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.  He/she will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate reporting of revenue and order-to-cash operations by providing accounting expertise, leadership, business insight and a strong desire to improve processes and controls.  The Revenue Manager will need to support ASC 606 system enhancements and improvements within RevPro.  He/she will report to the Senior Revenue Manager and support the continued growth of the revenue team at Genesys.

 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the review of sales opportunities, contracts and non-standard transactions – provide appropriate accounting guidance and propose solutions within Company’s revenue recognition policy
  • Play a key role in the implementation of ASC 606, identifying performance obligations for the Company's contracts and revenue elements, restating historical results, data conversion and development of key controls
  • Manage month-end and quarter-end revenue close, including reconciliations and related fluctuation analysis and other reporting requirements
  • Prepare analysis and journal entries as necessary to support the month-end close process
  • Ensure GAAP compliance across all functions in the order to cash cycle
  • Work with external audit directly on an interim and annual basis for compliance reviews, yearly annual audit, VSOE/BESP testing and reporting, and collaborating to explain key new arrangements to resolve the proper accounting for items
  • Review services transactions quarterly for VSOE/BESP/SSP compliance
  • Actively participate in various initiatives around the adoption of the new accounting guidance
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis when needed

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Experience managing teams, mentoring cross functional teams
  • Highly organized with phenomenal attention to detail
  • Aptitude to interact effectively with sales and product teams, functional peer groups, and subordinates and to gain cooperation from others, especially those in other departments, as well as with outside auditors and outside legal counsel
  • Confidence and consistent track record to communicate both orally and in writing, including the dissemination of technical information to individuals with varying degrees of experience in the subject matter, including sales personnel and other customer-facing individuals, finance personnel, and management-level individuals
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of multiple concurrent and diversified tasks while working with deadlines
  • Capacity to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Requirements (Education, Certification, Training and Experience):

  • Minimum 5-6 years of related Rev Rec experience or Big4 Experience
  • Experience with software clients (SaaS company) and/or industry with revenue background
  • Working knowledge of Software Revenue Recognitions Accounting – familiarity with ASC 985-605 (formerly SOP 97-2), ASU 2009-13 (formerly EITF 08-1) and ASU 2009-14 (formerly EITF 09-3); ASC 606
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Good communications skills required.
  • Experience using Excel, Salesforce.com, OpenAir, NetSuite, RevPro

Preferred:

  • Public accounting experience
  • Super user in Excel, ADVANCED (Pivoting, VLOOKUP)
  • Problem solver – should be a strong, analytical problem solver with a common sense and practical solutions orientation
