Job Summary:


This position for Senior Database Engineer will work on relational and non-relational databases at Genesys with focus on operational support and development using process, problem solving, coding, performance tuning, and proven recovery techniques to deliver world-class service to our customers. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a combined 5+ years of experience in the following:
  • Requires three or more years of Postgres administration and performance tuning with version 9.x and above.
  • Experience with public cloud solutions such as; Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.
  • Experience operating and supporting SaaS in cloud-based environments.
  • Ability to assist with maintenance and performance tuning for various database engines. 
  • Excellent experience interfacing between middleware and database systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot advanced SQL queries and manage stored procedures and functions.
  • Previous experience with enterprise-scale ETL processes.
  • Proficiency with Linux-based systems including performing administrative functions in a command line interface.
  • Candidate should be experienced with various scripting languages, to include a combination of PowerShell, Python and/or Bash.
  • Knowledge of other database systems like Cassandra, Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL is desirable.
  • Ability to learn new skills on the job, as well as helping peers understand and learn skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment using Jira and Agile methodologies. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage performance issues, provide security oversight, including monitoring and alert management to maximize system uptime.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and make recommendations and/or escalate for awareness and problem resolution.
  • Manage various updates and upgrades for database platforms including; Postgres, SQL Server, Cassandra and others as required.
  • Participate and develop data-related solutions and code to meet business needs. 
  • Manage data across all platforms and ensures the integrity of data. 
  • Participate and contribute to the architecture of data solutions to meet long-term growth plans of Genesys Engage cloud solutions.
  • Be available to participate in an on-call support rotation and support non-business hour change windows. 
  • Maintains the firm standards as they apply to information, data, network, and system security. 
  • Responsible for observing all laws and regulations wherever business is conducted on behalf of the company. 

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of container-based services including Kubernetes is desirable.
  • Resource management tools such as; Terraform and CloudFormation are desirable.
  • Experience working with and reporting on performance trending a plus.
  • Previous experience using source control solutions such as GitHub or Subversion.
  • Experience with partitioning for Postgres 10 and above is a plus.
  • Experience with any other NoSQL databases will be a plus.
