Job Summary:

Are you interested in working for a 5000+ global software company, with an amazing and fun HR team, doing extremely challenging and interesting work? This is the role for you.

What this role is:

As the leader of our compensation programs, you will lead a global team which owns compensation and rewards strategies for the company, with a goal of enhancing our ability to attract, retain and engage. This is a critical, visible role, with a focus on driving compensation from end-to-end. You’ll report directly to our incredibly talented Vice President of People Operations, Robert Coleman. You can check out his LinkedIn profile here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-coleman-26a06b1/

What this role isn’t:

This isn’t an analyst role. It’s also not a “manage and don’t do” role. We are looking for a thoughtful leader and strategic partner to work in a hands-on style addressing very real business issues related to employee compensation..

What you’ll bring to the table:

We are looking for someone with a true global perspective – although US headquartered, we have more employees internationally than domestically. You must have international total rewards experience, be technically adept at your craft, and possess fantastic people skills as we need someone to lead, listen and partner, consider the issues at hand, and connect the dots at scale.

Some details about what you’ll do:

  • Partner with senior HR and executive leadership to define, develop, communicate and execute the compensation philosophy, vision, and strategy.

  • Manage the research of external market compensation data and building of creative competitive solutions.

  • Evaluate, modify and design base and variable compensation structures, including sales incentive compensation, creating job ladders, compensation guidelines, and more.

  • Develop and maintain effective analytics and metrics, and dashboards to influence program direction and monitor business impact and effectiveness.

  • Prepare compensation documentation, presentations, and communications for audiences at all levels, ranging from employees to finance to top executive leadership.

  • Oversee the stock administration function for equity-related programs and partner closely with internal and external legal and accounting teams to ensure compliance.

  • Own all periodic processes associated with compensation programs, including planning and leading compensation review cycles.

  • Collaborate on mergers and acquisitions for compensation due diligence.

  • Monitor regulatory compliance and audits to ensure compliance and respond to audit and regulatory inquiries.

  • Oversee vendor selection; monitor and manage selected vendors against service level agreements and effectiveness.

  • Independently prepare annual total compensation budget and quarterly forecasts in close collaboration with finance, HR and executive leadership.

  • Various other stuff as it comes up.

Genesys is probably the biggest Silicon Valley software company that you’ve never heard of. We have an authentic, transparent culture, with engagement activities very much employee driven. With people in over 50 countries, we are very passport diverse and truly global. Our HR leadership team has been together for 6+ years. We have long tenure because we create an environment that is fun to work in – we have an experienced, open, execution-oriented team that loves a good debate - and a good party! We’ve all basically had new jobs every two years given our massive growth which is what keeps our jobs interesting. If you join us, you’ll be joining a fast paced, high performing team with a modern sensibility and approach towards HR.

Minimum requirements:

  • You should have a degree or two. But we value experience more. A lot of it. You will need at least 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Prior public company experience is a plus – those people know how to dot the i and cross the t!.

  • Advanced analytical skills, mastery of Excel and PowerPoint, and HR information systems. Yep, you’ll be digging into the details at Genesys.

  • Experience with a fast-paced organization.

  • You must have effectively managed teams before. You are going to be inheriting quite a few people.

  • Experience with internal and external reporting/disclosures requirements, M&A due diligence and integration.

  • You should be savvy in terms of financial acumen, as well as having a solid understanding of tax/accounting/legal/regulatory issues related to compensation programs, with a strong knowledge of equity compensation.

  • You must be a good communicator, partner, influencer and be committed to customer service. People who are difficult to work with or just want to do their own thing don’t do well here.

  • Expert in design and management of sales, executive, traditional and non-traditional compensation programs.

  • Willingness to travel periodically to key Genesys offices as needed. Not too much, don’t worry.

  • Personable, sense of humor, pleasant to work with. Just saying.

  • Oh and you should be a pretty good project manager. You’re going to have a LOT of projects.
